Brazil is the world's largest producer of oranges, mostly used in the preparation of Frozen Orange Juice for export. Our plantation - Ponderosa - aims at producing fruit for local domestic markets where the demand is for oranges for fresh orange juice. There are around 10,000 orange and lemon trees on Ponderosa, the first four thousand were planted four years ago and are producing their first crop now whilst later varieties and lemon trees were added more recently.
On the land are two traditional small farmhouses for the plantation workers and a third solid structure which is sited on a lower level surrounded by young Bahia orange trees and lemon trees - this could easily be refurbished and extended to provide an excellent home for the owner or manager of the plantation.. There is also a paddock with an adjoining workshop, together with a shed for the tractor. Although the whole property is in good condition the owner has been unable to devote time to managing the plantation over the past year because of other business pressures and would like to see a new proprietor take over the responsibilities for maintaining the plantation in prime condition.
